HE Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi

Chief Executive Officer

HE Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi is Emirates Steel's Chief Executive Officer. He is a UAE national and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University. HE has over 15 years of experience in the steel industry.

Eng. Al Remeithi has been with Emirates Steel since its inception. He commenced his career as Production Engineer in Operations and progressed through the ranks to become the Senior Vice President Operations.

In July 2011, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer to head the company into its next phase of business development and to solidify ES position as an integral part of Abu Dhabi 2030 vision.

Stephen J. Pope

Chief Financial Officer
Senior Vice President, Shared Services

Mr. Stephen Pope joined Emirates Steel in March 2007 as CFO and VP Shared Services. He was previously a partner with KPMG's Abu Dhabi office dealing with audit and corporate finance engagements for the office's largest and most prestigious clients involved in the Industrial, Oil & Gas and Financial Services sectors.

Prior to his role in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Pope worked with KPMG's Luxembourg and UK representative firms. During his five years with the Luxembourg firm his primary client was Arbed, subsequently Arcelor following the merger with Usinor (France) and Aceralia (Spain) - at that time Arcelor was the largest steel group in the World. Mr. Pope is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and holds a B.Sc. in Business Studies.

Eng. Hassan Shashaa

Chief Operating Officer

Engineer Hassan Shashaa holds a M.Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wales and is a Chartered Engineer. He has extensive experience covering most functions in the industry such as Production, Process, Quality Control and Engineering as well as Business Strategy, Project Management, Contracts, Sales & Marketing, Shipping, Logistics, Procurement and Warehousing. Most of the 38 years of his professional career were in the iron and steel industry. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive, Business Planning and Procurement Committees.

Mubarak Harbi Al Khaili

Senior Vice President, Marketing

Mr. Mubarak Harbi Al Khaili began his career at Emirates Steel in 2002 as Assistant Manager of Sales and Marketing. In the three years that followed, he rose to the level of Assistant General Manager and then Acting General Manager. In 2006, when Emirates Steel replaced the Emirates Iron and Steel Factory, he became the Vice President of Commercial Strategy. He holds a BA in Business Administration majoring in Marketing from the Eastern Washington University in the US. He also earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Abu Dhabi University.

Jasem Al Khateri

Vice President, Human Capital and Services

A young Emirati talent with more than 18 years of experience in both public and private sectors, Jasem Al Khateri joined Emirates Steel and assumed the role of Vice President of Human Capital & Services. His responsibilities include talent acquisition and development, optimizing UAE national workforce and lead the company's corporate services activities.

Al Khateri has an extensive experience in both public and private sectors, prior to joining Emirates Steel, Al Khateri held the position of Director Human Resources at Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, and the Director of Planning & Forecasting at Etisalat.

Jasem Al Khateri is a graduate of the UAE University; he holds Master's degree in Business Administration with honor.

Eng. Tariq Al Afeefi

Vice President, Standards & Audit

Engineer Tariq Al Afeefi is the Vice President of Standards & Audit at Emirates Steel, responsible for maintaining and developing company-wide product standards & quality, policy, and procedures. He is tasked to ensure compliance with regulatory authority requirements, enhance product certification & awards and environmental sustainability.

Engineer Al Afeefi has over 22 years of combined experience in process control instrumentations, engineering maintenance, material handling, health & safety, quality assurance and control. He joined the company in the year 2000, after he worked with GASCO and ADGAS. He served as Maintenance Manager and Assistant Vice President of Material Handling at Emirates Steel. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland OHIO, USA.

Mohammed Salem Al Afari

Vice President – HSM Sales

Mr. Mohammed Al Afari has more than ten years' experience in sales and marketing. He started his career at Emirates Steel in 2003 and was promoted two years later to become the Manager of Sales before he headed the Sales and Marketing Department in 2006.

He played an important role in the company's march towards growth and prosperity, and witnessed the implementation of Emirates Steel's two phases of expansion (2006-2012), which led to a considerable increase in plant capacity to 3.5 million tons. He also championed the company's rebranding process and creation of new identity back in 2012.

Mr. Al Afari holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Abu Dhabi University and a BA in Information Systems from the HCT in Abu Dhabi.

Saeed Khalfan Al Ghaferi

Vice President, Supply Chain Management

Mr. Saeed Al Ghaferi played a key role in establishing the Procurement and Logistics function as well as driving key strategic expansion projects within Emirates Steel. Prior to joining Emirates Steel, he worked at the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) as Operations Engineer focusing on oil exploration and plant operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa (USA) and MBA from the University of Strathclyde (Scotland).

Juma Nasser Al Mansouri

Vice President, Sales ‐ Rebar & Wire Rod

Mr. Juma Nasser Al Mansouri is a BA graduate in Marketing. He kicked off his career as a General Marketing In-charge with Al Ain Mineral Water, which is part of Agthia Group of Companies, where he spent 4 to 5 years in FMCG Industry. He was promoted to Deputy Marketing Manager and Head of Sales, a position from which he managed to establish a strong network of sales and distribution for Al Ain Water in domestic and export market until he left the company in 2007. In the middle of that year, he joined Emirates Steel as Head of Sales and was later promoted to his current position of Vice President.

Anoop Nair

Vice President Marketing & Strategy

Mr. Anoop Nair, took up his duties as Vice President Marketing & Strategy in Emirates Steel in July 2018. As Vice President Marketing & Strategy, Mr. Nair is responsible for planning marketing programs and developing business strategies that will help Emirates Steel achieve its vision of being a world class steel manufacturer by providing the highest quality products, services and solutions to customers and maximizing returns to its shareholders.

Mr. Nair has over 25 years of experience in the steel industry, having worked for over a decade in departmental head positions at ArcelorMittal in Ostrava, Czech Republic. He joined ArcelorMittal in 2007 as Head of Supply Chain, Production Planning, and Order Management. Over the following years he held positions of increasing responsibility. His last position at ArcelorMittal was COO and Member of Board in 2 Companies. Prior to that, Mr. Nair worked as Chief Marketing Officer at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

Mr. Nair holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cranfield University in England and bachelor's degree in Engineering from National Institute of Technology in India.
