H.E Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi

Chief Executive Officer

His Excellency Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Emirates Steel, and leads the company’s strategic development as a regional leader in the steel manufacturing sector.

Since H.E. Saeed Al Remeithi assumed the role of CEO in 2012, Emirates Steel has expanded in both manufacturing capability and production output, producing steel products in Abu Dhabi that are exported around the world.

Interestingly, Eng. Saeed joined Emirates Steel at its inception as a Production Manager, and subsequently held various positions as the Assistance Vice President of Rolling Mills, the Vice President of Production, and the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Under his tenure as CEO, Emirates Steel has expanded its product range, producing new types of steel products at different grades, including an innovative steel range suitable for use in the nuclear energy sector. With H.E. Saeed Al Remeithi as CEO, the company has enhanced its production efficiency, mitigated its environmental impact, and now exports to more than forty six countries around the world.

Among the many responsibilities under his supervision, H.E. Saeed Al Remeithi serves as the Chairman of the World Steel Association’s (worldsteel) Economic Committee.

Additionally, Eng. Saeed holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University in the United States of America.

Stephen J. Pope

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Stephen Pope is the Chief Financial Officer of Emirates Steel, and the Senior Vice President of Shared Services, and has been with the company since 2007. He is a qualified charted accountant, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Before his role with Emirates Steel, Mr. Pope was a partner with KPMG’s Abu Dhabi office, managing the corporate finance engagements for clients in the industrial, oil and gas and financial services sector. He has worked with KPMG in Luxembourg and the UK, which brought him to work with Arcelor, the largest steel group in the world, at the time.

Mr. Pope holds a B.Sc. in Business Studies from the University of Bradford Management Centre in the United Kingdom, having graduated in 1983.

Eng. Hassan Salim Shashaa

Chief Operating Officer

Engineer Hassan Shashaa has been ever present within the structure of the Company, as he is currently the Chief Operating Officer. Steel. Eng. Hassan has enjoyed a long and prosperous career of almost forty years in the heavy industry sector, and brings a wealth of experience to his current role in overseeing the operations of Emirates Steel.

Eng. Hassan Shashaa has held positions within Emirates Steel including the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development and the Advisor to the CEO. Prior to joining Emirates Steel, he spent over twenty years at the Gulf Industrial Investment Company in Bahrain.

He holds a degree in Bachelors of Science from the American University of Beirut, and a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Mubarak Harbi Al Khyeli

Senior Vice President of Marketing

Dr. Mubarak Harbi Al Khaili is the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Emirates Steel. In this role, he is responsible for implementing marketing strategies across Emirates Steel’s operations, sharing its products with markets around the world.

Dr. Al Khaili has been with Emirates Steel since he began his career in 2002, and has been with the company ever since. He was appointed as Vice President of Commercial Strategy in 2006.

Dr. Al Khaili holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration in Marketing from the Eastern Washington University from the United States, a Master’s in Business Administration from Abu Dhabi University, and a PHD in Philosophy from Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom.

Jasem Mohamed Al Khateri

Vice President of Human Capital and Services

Jasem Al Khateri is the Vice President of Human Capital and Services. Within his role, he is responsible for talent acquisition and development at Emirates Steel, with an emphasis on developing and nurturing Emirati talent. Mr. Al Khateri also leads the company’s corporate services activities.

Mr. Al Khateri has worked in both the public and private sectors in the UAE, and prior to joining Emirates Steel, worked as the Director of Human Resources and the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, and the Director of Planning and Forecasting at Etisalat.

Mr. Al Khateri holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, both from UAE University.

Eng. Tariq Majdi Al Afifi

Vice President of Standards and Audit

Engineer Tariq Al Afeefi is the Vice President of Standards & Audit at Emirates Steel. He is responsible for maintaining and developing company-wide product standards & quality, policies, and procedures. He is tasked to ensure compliance with regulatory authority requirements, enhance product certification and awards and environmental sustainability.

Engineer Al Afeefi has been with Emirates Steel since 2000, and has more than 22 years of combined experience in process control instrumentations, engineering maintenance, material handling, health and safety, and quality assurance and control. He previously worked with GASCO and ADGAS.

Eng. Tariq holds BSc in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland OHIO, USA.

Mohammed Salem Al Efari

Vice President Sales – HSM

Mr. Mohammed Al Afari is the Vice President of HSM Sales, bringing more than fifteen years of experience to his current role. Mr. Al Afari played an important part in the company’s march towards growth and prosperity, and witnessed the implementation of Emirates Steel’s two phases of expansion (2006-2012), which led to a considerable increase in plant capacity to 3.5 million tons. He also championed the company’s rebranding process and creation of new identity back in 2012.

Mr. Al Afari brings more than fifteen years of experience in sales and marketing to his current role. He started his career at Emirates Steel in 2003, and was promoted two years later to become the Manager of Sales before he assumed the role of Vice President – HSM Sales in 2016.

Mr. Al Afari holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Abu Dhabi University and a bachelor’s degree in Information Management from the Higher College of Technology in Abu Dhabi.

Saeed Khalfan Al Ghafri

Vice President of Supply Chain Management

Mr. Saeed Khalfan Al Ghafri is the Vice President of Supply Chain Management at Emirates Steel. In his role, he has played a key part in the establishments and operation of the Procurement and Logistics departments, alongside driving key strategic expansion projects within the company.

Prior to Emirates Steel, Mr. Al Ghafri worked at the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) as an Operations Engineer, focused on oil exploration and plant operations.

He holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa in the United States of America.

Juma Nasser Al Mansouri

Vice President, Sales ‐ Rebar & Wire Rod

Mr. Juma Nasser Al Mansouri is the Vice President of Sales in Rebar and Wire Rod at Emirates Steel, having been with the company for more than ten years. His role places him in leading and overseeing the company’s sales team for Rebar and Wire Rod to customers around the globe.

Mr. Al Mansouri joined Emirates Steel from Al Ain Water, where he was Deputy Marketing Manager and Head of Sales. Whilst at the post, Mr. Al Mansouri established a strong distribution network for the bottled water company.

Mr. Juma has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from California State University in the United States of America.

Anoop Nair

Vice President of Marketing and Strategy

Mr. Anoop Nair is the Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Emirates Steel. Mr. Nair’s role involves responsibilities for planning marketing programs that showcase the products and services offered by the company with potential customers across the globe.

Mr. Nair joined Emirates Steel in 2018 with more than 25 years of experience in the steel industry, having worked previously with AcelorMittal in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where he was the plant’s Chief Operating Officer. He has also worked as the Chief Marketing Officer at the Steel Authority of India Limited.

Mr. Nair holds a bachelor’s of Engineering in Metallurgy from NIT Raipur, India, and an MBA from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
